From Day to Day
Day 1 ° > Miami
Florida
Gathering at our hotel in Miami at 6 pm, but the latest by midnight. For those who are there, we will have dinner together at 8 pm and some verbal preparation for the tour. It is good to know that if you leave Europe in the morning you are in Miami on the same day’s afternoon. If you have a straight flight from your hometown, you can leave in the afternoon and you will arrive in the early evening same day! ;)
Day 2 ° Miami - Key West - Marathon

We start our adventure by driving the awesome CA1 to the southernmost point of mainland USA, Key West! Key West has also been home to Ernst Hemingway and we have a possibility to visit Hemingway's home museum! For the night we drive to the small Marathon, which is 80 km back towards the mainland and Miami!
Day 3 ° Marathon - Everglades - Okeechobee
Florida ° 442km, 5h 19m ° b,d
Breakfast with pelicans and then we drive a couple of hours to see some bigger creatures, Alligators! At Everglades, we will do a pontoon boat tour to the wetlands! We will end our driving day at small Okeechobee, which is at the north end of lake Okeechobee
Day 4 ° Okeechobee - Kennedy Space Center - Daytona Beach

Today we do kind of a climate change from Florida's wetlands to space! After breakfast, we drive to the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, where we follow CA1 up to Kennedy Space Center, where we will spend an hour or two! From Space Center, we drive to the famous Daytona Beach, which is also our final address today!
Day 5 ° Daytona Beach - Ocala National Forrest - Carrebelle

Morning swim, breakfast and go west! First in the west comes
Ocala National Forrest, which is the home of the best curvy roads in Florida... and there is coming better later on :) ... our destination today is small Carrabelle on the shore of the Gulf of Mexico!
Day 6 ° Carrebelle - Cape Palms - Pensacola
Florida ° 331km, 4h 51m ° b,d
Today we drive more or less the whole day with the Gulf of Mexico on our left side and dry land on our left side! On the way, we will visit Cape San Blass at beautiful St. Joseph Penisula! We will also drive through the busy holiday city, Panama City Beach. We end our sea full driving day by driving the awesome Gulf Island National Seashore Park to Pensacola where we park our bikes for the night!
Day 7 ° Pensacola - USS Alabama (Mobile) - New Orleans
Florida - Alabama - Mississippi - Louisiana ° 392km, 5h 12m ° b,d
Pensacola is the last city in Florida and Mobile our only city in Alabama! In Mobile we stop at the interesting U.S.S Alabama Battleship Memorial Park! After Mobile and U.S.S Alabama Memorial Park we change Alabama to Louisana... and drive to the pearl of Louisiana, New Orleans. We stay here for two nights so tonight we might have a beer or two at some Jazz Club
Day 8 ° New Orleans

Day off. And the lively Bourbon Street keeps you easily busy! And in New Orleans you can naturally take also Mississippi cruise with an old steam boat... in the evening also with dinner and jazz!
Day 9 ° New Orleans - Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge - Port Artur
Lousiana - Texas ° 468km, 5h 26m ° b,d
Our last day in the 'Kingdom of Alligators!' We follow the coastline on secondary roads and will cross a bridge or two! It's maybe the greenest day of our coast to coast adventure! Our destination today is the 1st city in Texas when following the shores of Gulf of Mexico, Port Artur!
Day 10 ° Port Artur - Galveston - Yorktown

Today you will drive the very nice Bolivar Peninsula to Port Bolivar, wherefrom we take a ferry to Galveston Island. Yes, the city of Galveston is on an island! Here you will also see pyramids like in Cairo! From pyramids, we follow Bluewater Highway until freeport and then we say bye-bye to the sea and turn inland! And there today to Yorktown via Victoria!
Day 11 ° Yorktown - Del Rio - Marathon

From green to brown... this is the day when we change green quite flat landscape to brownish mountainous landscape. Not too many mountains today, but wait until tomorrow! Today we drive across the biggest part of Texas to the border of Mexico, Del Rio. At Del Rio we will see Mexico first time... but not the last! And today it will be also our second Marathon night. The first one was in Marathon Florida! Now Marathon Texas... and yes, less water here!
Day 12 ° Marathon - Big Bend National Park - Marfa
Texas ° 373km, 4h 44m ° b,d
This is a beautiful driving day. After breakfast, we drive to Big Bend National Park and its mountains! From there we will follow the Rio Grande through Big Bend Ranch State Park on a small curvy border road until Presidio, wherefrom we turn to small but famous Marfa! It has been in many movies and it has been the home of one of the most famous artists in the USA, contemporary artist Donald Judd!
Day 13 ° Marfa - Guadalupe Mountains - El Paso

This morning we are a bit art bikers and we visit Chinati, Donald Judd museum before we start riding... with those who are interested! Then up to Fort Davis where we take a left turn and drive via McDonald Observatory to the foothills of Guadalupe Mountains! And just next to the Guadalupe Mountains we can enter Guadalupe Salt Basin with our bikes! Our destination today is El Paso! Here we stay for 2 nights!
Day 15 ° El Paso - Rodeo - Tombstone
Texas - Arizona ° 472km, 4h 35m
Today we follow USA-MEX small border road today's first 200km. Actually you do not see any highway today. From Hachita we leave the border for a while, but continue small roads all the way to the small silver mining city Tombstone with a big history! Tombstone looks like it looked after it was rebuilt after 1882 big fire!
Day 16 ° Tombstone - Old Tucson - Pinal Air Park - Gila Bend
Arizona ° 359km, 4h 12m ° b,d
From Tombstone, we drive to another in Arizona. Old Tucson, America's most famous western movies film town. Tombstone is inhabited, but the bigger Old Tucson is not! It's still a very popular spot for shooting movies and ads and everything between! From Old Tucson, we continue to Pinal Air Park... if you need a second-hand well-used passenger plane... from here you can buy many! :)
Day 17 ° Gila Bend - Anza Borrego National Park - San Diego
Arizona - California ° 530km, 5h 46m ° b,d
Warm sunny day again. Today from Gila via Algodones Sand Dunes and via Anza-Borrego Desert Park to the Pacific coast and San Diego. Between Anza-Borrego and San Diego we drive through the beautiful Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. In San Diego we stay two nights!
Day 18 ° San Diego
California
Day off... with a lot to choose from! There is Hop-on Hop-off for relax sightseeing! SeaWorld is a great place to visit as well as the much much smaller Seaport Village! Boys might like to visit USS Midway aircraft carrier, which is now a museum! And you can also drive with a tram to the border and walk to Tijuana city-center!
Day 19 ° San Diego - Long Beach - Los Angeles
California ° 244km, 3h 25m ° b,d
Our last driving day but not least! First, we make a morning loop around San Diego Bay and then we continue to San Clemente! From San Clemente, we drive a stretch of old protected Coast Highway until Dana Point and HW1 starting point! Our last stop (or second last) stop of our driving day is Long Beach where the old Atlantic Cruise Ship Queen Mary is parked! After Long Bech is time to ride to our bike rental company and say bye bye to our faithful iron horses! :) In the evening our US coast to coast adventure's farewell dinner!
